Health & Safety Officer

Job Summary

Stefanutti Stocks Inland is seeking a skilled and experienced Safety Officer to join our project team on a major Multi-Disciplinary Construction Project in Gauteng.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor project Health & Safety requirements.
• Safety Inductions
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety observations.
• Identify hazards and unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Monitor compliance by employees, subcontractors and service providers.
• Participate in risk assessments and safe-work planning.
• Conduct and/or facilitate toolbox talks and safety awareness initiatives.
• Assist with incident and near-miss investigations.
• Maintain accurate Health & Safety documentation and records.
• Monitor the correct use of PPE and adherence to site safety procedures.
• Participate in Health & Safety meetings and site audits.
• Assist construction teams in maintaining a proactive safety culture.
• Escalate significant Health & Safety risks and non-conformances to project management.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety / Safety Management.
• SAMTRAC qualification is essential
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health & Safety Officer is essential.

Experience

• Minimum 5+ years Health & Safety Experience within the Construction Industry
• Proven experience in a Senior Safety Office role on large, complex construction projects
• Relevant Health & Safety qualification
• Proven Health & Safety experience within the construction industry
• Experience working on multi-disciplinary construction projects
• Strong knowledge of construction-related Health & Safety requirements and site practices
• Computer literacy, including MS Office
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with employees, subcontractors, supervisors and construction management
