Estimating Manager/Senior Estimator - Construction Industry

Job Summary

RPO Recruitment's client, a well-established building contractor in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager / Senior Estimator to lead its estimating function and oversee the preparation of competitive, accurate tenders across a range of construction projects.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the estimating process from initial tender review through to final submission, while managing a small support team and ensuring that all pricing and tender documentation meet the required standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the complete estimating and tendering process.
• Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings and bills of quantities.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates, pricing schedules and tender submissions using Candy / CCS.
• Assess project costs, risks and commercial considerations.
• Ensure compliance with tender requirements and contractual conditions.
• Lead and mentor a team of three estimating support staff.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and competitive tender submissions.

Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.
• 10–20 years’ experience in the building construction industry.
• Proven ability to prepare and manage tenders independently from start to finish using Candy / CCS.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC and JBCC contracts.
• Experience with both government and private-sector projects.
• Previous experience leading an estimating team and overseeing the full estimating function.
• Strong commercial, analytical, organisational and leadership skills.

Remuneration & Benefits
